Privacy Policy

Showvie ("we", "our", or "us") is a movie and TV tracking app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information We Collect

• Account information — username, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only what those services provide (typically an identifier and, optionally, your name and email).
• Activity data — movies and shows you rate, review, or add to your watchlist.
• Profile information — display name, bio, and profile photo, if you choose to provide them.
• Usage data — standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps) retained briefly for security and debugging.
• Diagnostic data — when the app crashes or hits an error, we collect a stack trace, the device model and OS version, and a short trail of the in-app actions that led up to it. This helps us fix bugs. We do not include the contents of your messages, photos, or watchlists in these reports.

How We Use It

• To provide and improve the app — powering your watchlist, feed, and profile.
• To show your activity to people who follow you (you control this through your account).
• To respond to support requests.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third Parties

• TMDB — movie and TV metadata is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). When you use the app, your device fetches images directly from TMDB's CDN. See TMDB's privacy policy.
• Apple / Google — if you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, those services handle authentication under their own privacy policies.
• Cloudflare — our marketing site (showvieapp.com) sits behind Cloudflare and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for privacy-respecting visitor metrics. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal data collected. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Sentry — we use Sentry for crash and error reporting. When the app or our backend hits an error, Sentry receives a stack trace plus diagnostic context (device model, OS version, app version, breadcrumb of recent actions). It is not used for advertising or tracking. See Sentry's privacy policy.

Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account directly in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account), which permanently removes your ratings, reviews, watchlists, and followers. If you can't access the app, email support@showvieapp.com from the address linked to your account.

Children

Showvie is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
